Google to Shut Down Business Profile Websites: What to Do Next?

Google has gone on record that it will be shutting down websites created on their Google Business Profile platform. They are set to shut down these sites in March 2024.

Websites created with Google Business Profiles are expected to be redirected until June 10 2024. A redirect will be enabled from your GBP website to your Business Profile.

Google suggests Godaddy, Google Sites, Shopify, Weebly, WordPress or Strikingly as website builder alternatives.

The positive in all this is that if you were using a website created in GBP, using any of the above stated platforms as a website builder will give you access to a wider array of features, creating a much better experience for your customers and giving you the flexibility to create more engaging and functional websites using the latest web-standards.

Remember, your Business Profile remains unaffected except for the website portion. If you don’t have a website created with a Google Business Profile, these changes won’t impact you.
